Iqra University traces its geneses until January 1998, when it began its operation in Karachi. It was the Government of Sindh that chartered the University, as per Sindh Ordinance VI of 2000. At present, Iqra University has campuses across the entire Provincial Capitals of Pakistan and the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The Islamabad Campus received recognition from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), (the then UGC), in March 2001 under document reference No.16-23/ugc/secy/99/60. Recently, HEC has conferred the W’ category, i.e. A’, to Islamabad Campus because of its extremely sophisticated infrastructure and modern facilities for academics and research.

The admission fee and tuition for students from abroad who are being sent are not paid through Iwate University. Students must pay tuition fees at their home institution. Students must cover their own expenses which include travel expenses as well as accommodation and costs for living, as well as the cost of educational materials like textbooks.
